Elbows and Knees

David is working on crawling and moves around on his knees and elbows. I was trying to get some good pictures of him on the move, but he wasn't in the mood for crawling.

He was in a good mood though, so we had fun anyway.

It was a long day coming home Wednesday. The kids did great in the car and we enjoyed breakfast in Modesto, but it was awfully nice to be welcomed home by my hydrangea blooming.

We also discovered that we still have strawberries in the backyard.

These Two

Reading Time

Elias and Mary had fun reading together Sunday. Soon, the group grew.

Cousin Time

Mary and David are enjoying all the time with their cousins.

Step Stool

We had a step stool that I liked as a child and thought was so cool because it turned into a chair; I remember using it all the time. When Dad asked if we wanted a step stool for Mary, I asked if he could make one like that stool. Of course, he could and did. Mary got to check out her new step stool yesterday and approves.

Sisters' Night

We decided it was past time for a sisters' night, so we set one up. We met at Heather's house and had a Thai food picnic in her bedroom followed by a tea tasting while we watched the first episode of Full House. We were planning to end there, but we were having such a good time that Heather and Michelle came back to Mom and Dad's house. We had dessert there and watched the first episode of Fuller House. It was a lovely evening with some of my favorite people.

Fun with Food

Mary got to help Grandma mix up gingerbread this week, which she loved.

She and David have also been enjoying the play food.

David's Baptism

We baptized David on Sunday at a small ceremony at my parents' house. It wasn't what we had planned before the pandemic, but it ended up being a lovely day. Many thanks to Heather for taking pictures.

David was a happy little guy for his big day.

Mary wore a new dress that she and I had made with Mom last week.

Dad, Mom, and Gayle read scripture passages, and Dave performed the ceremony.

It was a beautiful setting for a baptism.

Happy Fourth of July

The Nickells hosted a lovely party for the Fourth of July. There was swimming, food, and visiting. I made my traditional fruit tarts.

Heather had a photo booth set up, so of course we had to take some sisters photos.

And, not surprisingly, things got a little silly.

There were also fireworks, but we decided not to stay for them this year. Dad and I did see some beauties on TV. All in all, it was a good celebration.
