Time for Cake

Many years ago, Joshua got a card from one of his friends that included this recipe. He found the card awhile ago and suggested that I make the cake. I finally got around to it this week. I don't think it turned out quite like it was supposed to, but it tasted good and was fun to try.

 

Little Friends

We made a day trip up to visit our friends, the Starbucks, on Sunday. As always, it was great to see them and spend time together. Hazel just turned two, and she and David had a lot of fun rolling a ball back and forth and playing together. 

Mud Pancakes

Mary has been busy making pancakes a lot recently.

 

More Camera Fun

Having photoshoots is a favorite activity right now.

 

Tea Parties

Tea parties are a real hit around here at the moment. Sometimes it involves actually drinking water from the tea cups, but mostly it's just about pouring water.

David likes to get in on the action too. He pushed the chair over to the counter and climbed up all by himself.

Mary had fun looking through all her clothes yesterday.

Little Builder

Mary finished breakfast early the other day. I found her happily building a few minutes later.

Walk

We've been trying to get out and go on walks more often lately even if the weather isn't ideal. Yesterday it was a bit chilly, but we enjoyed some rare sunshine that made everything look particularly beautiful.

Mary loves to pick flowers.

Photo Shoot

Mary wanted to do something special and fun after dinner the other day. In an effort to find something that fit the bill, Joshua suggested getting dressed up and having a photo shoot.

Mary liked the idea.

Of course, we had to do some goofy faces too.

 It was a fun, different thing to do, and a good time was had by all.

Favorites

This is the kids' favorite spot right now.

 They are enjoying playing together more often. Currently, their favorite game is to climb up on the couch and go from one side to the other climbing on the end tables and jumping or falling back onto the couch.

Valentine's Day

We added pink applesauce and pink grapefruit juice to our traditional pink, heart-shaped pancakes for Valentine's Day this year.

David got to try his first heart pancakes and was a big fan.

Mary and I also made heart cookies, plus some teapots and teacups so I could try the cookie cutters I got for Christmas.

 

They were a big hit too.

Back at Home

We've been slowly getting back into our normal routine here at home. Mary has been going on adventures around the house.

She also likes to go outside to get her face wet in the rain.

David learned how to climb up on the rocking chair, and just about everything else.

 We've been trying new recipes and looking for healthy snack options, like these pumpkin snack cookies.

Hello Oregon

We enjoyed another couple of days in California with the family. We squeezed in a few more walks and some wagon rides. The kids had fun taking turns riding and pulling.

The balloons continued to provide lots of entertainment. Mary was cracking up tossing the balloon around with Uncle Jonah.

We headed home on Saturday with a quick stop in Modesto to say hi and watch David and Amari open birthday presents. It was hard to say goodbye, but nice to be home.
