Sweet Treat

We enjoyed a trip up to Three Rivers for ice cream over the holiday weekend.

Ten Months

Hannah is ten months now.

She pulls herself up to standing and can climb up on things that are surprisingly high. She likes kneeling or standing at the door and looking out the window. She often sits on her legs with her feet tucked under her.

Hannah enjoys eating and is starting to feed herself. When we eat at Dad and Mom's house, Hannah usually sits across from Dad and likes to play a game with him where they slide her spoon across the table.

She babbles a lot, starting as soon as she wakes up. One of the things she says frequently is "yea," often seemingly in response to what you say.

She loves to play games and get tickles.

 We love our sweet girl.

August Happenings

We made veggie stamps out of bell pepper with ketchup for paint. Art time turned into snack time when David decided to eat his stamp.

The kids made hand prints on the patio with chalk.

Hannah learned to pull herself up to standing.

Mary built a fire station.

Our second cousins from New York came to visit, and we had a lemon meringue pie sampling. Isabel was on her way to teach in Southern California.

We went to Sequoia National Park with Evelyn and Lillie.

Hiking to Tokopah Falls.

Micah came over to bake pretzels.

One of our tomato plants is huge, but unfortunately has only produced a few tomatoes.

 We've been harvesting a lot of jalapeños, including a few red ones.

Nine Months

Little Hannah is nine months old.

She loves to laugh, play, and explore.

She climbs on all kinds of things.

When she's crawling around, she likes to stop and look over her shoulder.

The squishy place mats are one of her favorite toys right now.

She loves playing with Mary and David, who like to build towers for her to climb.

When she finds something interesting, she often rolls onto her back to pass it from hand to hand to feet and look at it, then sometimes puts it in her mouth.

 

Hannah is a little sweetheart.

Baking PIes

We did a combined birthday dinner for Jonah and Emery this year, and we got to make the birthday dinner and, more excitingly, the pies. I hadn't made lemon meringue pie before, so it was fun to try something new.

 Joshua was given a box of peaches, so the next day I made peach jam and a peach pie. It might have been a bit much for a hot summer day, but they both turned out great.

High School Camp

Back to camp we went Sunday, this time with a bigger group of students from church for high school camp.

Mary and David thought the disc golf goals made beautiful music.

We found a peaceful little trail by the lake.

David did some fishing in the creek.

Rest time.

Tuesday we followed the trail to Miwok Village, and had fun discovering that area.

The kids did lots of grinding in the stones to make pancakes.

We went back to the peaceful spot by the lake Wednesday morning.

Thursday morning we returned to Miwok Village. We took the road so that Hannah could ride in the stroller, which was cooler for both of us.

 The kids made lots of treats that they cooked over the fire. We then ate them during a meeting in the roundhouse.

Mary and David got to play frisbee with Joshua and some of the youth which they thought was pretty exciting.

We got a cold treat from Nurse Erin.

 We returned home Friday afternoon, unloaded and turned on the AC, then headed for a cool spot to have dinner while the house cooled off. It was great to spend a lot of time at camp this summer, but it was also nice to be home.
