More Winemaking

Fortunately, winemaking does not require much attention, just patience. Saturday, though, we began the next step in the vintner process: bottling.

Here we have the wine -- pomegranate, elderberry, blackberry, elderberry, and gooseberry.

After pouring the wine into bottles (and not without a few mishaps), it came time to push the corks into place. This proved a more difficult process than we thought -- it's a tight fit!

We were able to bottle three of the four kinds in the time we had; as you can see in the photograph, the blackberry remains. We tasted all three, and they were delicious! The gooseberry in particular impressed us. They should all improve with age. The end result was sixteen bottles, properly labeled and tucked away for a few months.
